Cushman and Wakefield Executive Director Devin Beasley is slated to speak at the upcoming Self Storage Association Fall Conference, Sept. 3-6, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. His presentation, “Why Class A RV & Boat Storage Makes Sense,” provides an overview of the RV and boat storage market and speculates on growth in the industry over the next five years.
Other highlights of his educational session, scheduled for Friday morning, Sept. 6, include the following:
- Advantages of RV & boat storage,
- Comparison of the current RV & boat storage market to the early days of the traditional storage market,
- Definition of a Class A facility,
- Why building Class A is so important, and
- Taking Class B/C to A and where to start.
To make the grade as a Class A project, an RV and boat storage facility must include four key features, according to Toy Storage Nation:
- Secure perimeter fencing,
- Paved surfaces,
- Enclosed or canopied unit/spaces, and
- Security-gate access.
The Self Storage Association (SSA) has served as the official trade organization and voice of the U.S. and international self-storage industry for more than 40 years. The national SSA is affiliated with 40 U.S. state associations along with nine international organizations representing another 12,000 storage facilities worldwide.
The annual fall conference features daily educational sessions, association meetings, receptions and vendor tradeshow. To view the full agenda and to register, visit here.
SSA is the registered lobbying entity representing the industry’s 49,000 facilities before the U.S. Congress and federal departments and agencies. The association actively represents the industry before state legislative and regulatory bodies. Over the past decade, SSA has spent more than $4 million influencing over 60 relevant laws, as well as adding specialty licenses for the offering of tenant insurance, and authorizing reasonable late fees, dealing with abandoned records and vehicles, and fighting the imposition of sales taxes on self storage rents in a dozen other states.
