How New Year’s Resolutions Could Pump Up Need for RV/Boat Storage

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) has determined that the top-three common threads in resolutions are thematically related to RV and boat storage:

  1. The desire for self-improvement,
  2. The need for financial wellness, and
  3. The goal of achieving a balanced lifestyle.

RVIA notes that these mirror 2024’s most popular resolutions, which were saving money (59%), exercising more (50%) and eating healthier (47%), respectively.

By the way: Travel has also been cited as a popular resolution in the New Year, particularly “soft travel” (characterized by simplicity and relaxation) and “solo travel” (traveling alone).

Why it matters: RV travel aligns well with the prioritization of financial stability and mental/physical health as 2025 ramps up.

How New Year’s Resolutions Could Pump Up Need for RV/Boat StorageAffordability: A 2023 study conducted by an outside, independent firm found that RV vacations cost much less than other types of vacation travel, even when factoring in fuel prices and the cost of RV ownership.

There is an average cost savings of up to 60% for a four-person travel party, while a two-person travel party saves up to an average of 46%, depending on factors such as the type of RV and type of vacation.

How New Year’s Resolutions Could Pump Up Need for RV/Boat StorageMental and physical benefits: According to a study conducted by AllTrails and UnYoked, over 400 respondents who spent just two nights and three days camping “offline” reported a 16% reduction in burnout and a 12.7% improvement in overall wellbeing.

RVIA Goals
The RV industry’s messaging will continue to highlight affordability and the physical and mental benefits of spending time outdoors, whether solo or in the company of others.

This messaging is achieved via social media strategies that have been covered in Go RVing’s previous Trends To Know throughout the year, including user-generated content and short-form videos, which are great ways to connect with RV and boat owners on your own social media platforms.
