RSG Development and Great American Storage are deepening their business relationship with the construction of a new self-storage and Boat-RV facility in Ocala, Florida.
The two firms have been equity partners on projects in the past, but now Great American will also operate the new Ocala facility, with its planned 769 self-storage units and 42 Boat-RV spaces, after it opens in late 2025. The ground-breaking for the 135,100-square-foot, Class A facility in Ocala took place in November – and when finished it will include solar panels to power the new complex, Bluetooth-enabled locks for enhanced security, and drive-up climatized units to serve the needs of local businesses, according to a press release issued by the New Jersey-based RSG.
Founded in 2022 by two long-time veterans of the self-storage industry, RSG Development now has 10 self-storage facilities that are either open, under construction or in the permitting stage. Of the 10 facilities, seven have boat and RV storage. The facilities are in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey and Rhode Island. RSG recently sold a storage facility that was located in Massachusetts.
RSG’s funding varies from project to project, with investments coming from the two founders — George Hristodoulou and Erik Johnson — private equity partners, loans and other sources.
Hristodoulou, managing general partner at RSG, and Johnson, also a managing general partner at RSG, recently spoke with SpareFoot about their company’s future partnership with Great American, the firm’s overall growth plans in coming years, and other topics. See the full interview here.
